Description

Join me on my guided tour and discover the best of Paris in only one day. This half-day or full-day walking tour starts at the Ile de la Cité, the historical heart of Paris, where the Notre-Dame Cathedral stands. Fist of all, you will see the Notre-Dame Cathedral from outside and learn its incredible history. After the recent fire of April 2019, Notre-Dame is now closed for restoration works but we can still admire its beautiful facade, bell towers and famous gargoyles. After seeing Notre-Dame, we cross the river to walk the Medieval streets in the Latin Quarter on the Left Bank of the river Seine, where the Sorbonne University is located. Once we have returned to our starting point, the ile de la cite, you will learn about the history of the Gothic jewel, the Sainte-Chapelle, and the terrible prison, the Conciergerie, where Queen Marie-Antoinette was emprisoned during the French Revolution. On the Right Bank of the river, you will be able to discover the city’s most famous landmarks such as the Louvre, the Tuileries gardens, the Place de la Concorde, the Champs-Elysees, the Grand and Petit Palais, the Arc de Triumph.

Besides the aforementioned attractions, you can discover art in one of Paris’ museums such as the Louvre or the Musée d’Orsay. Or, instead of a museum, you can visit Montmartre, the hill with an unforgettable view of the whole city. This is where the Impressionists lived and where the white Sacre-Coeur Basilica now stands. This tour can be organized to fit your needs, so any suggestions from you are most welcome. To get from one sight to another, we can use either public transport or a taxi, although most of the tour is on foot. We can also stop for a snack or lunch break.
